Remembering The Endings Does Not Allow Us To Imagine What It Would Be Like To Start

Remembering the endings does not allow us to imagine what it would be like to begin

I don’t understand how it could have happened. I am not able to believe that I have left that place. How can it be that it is over if I feel that he gave me life . These could be some of your thoughts right now: endings don’t let you imagine a new beginning either.

What’s more, if similar ideas are circulating in your head at the moment, it is precisely because you are still living in the past and you have not been able to overcome them. A story that has ended but remains unfinished for you or a city that has run out of experiences, but you do not dare to accept it.

However, the endings are nothing but the tangible proof of an experience that stays with a part of us. They mean goodbye, it is true; but also that we have experienced something that no one can ever steal from us because it belongs to us.

The endings are also beginnings

Right now you live in an agitated confusion, in a contradiction between the reality that haunts you and what you would like it to be. It is completely natural and you do not have to be ashamed: we have all felt that what we wanted to stay was slipping from our hands.

However, when the endings knock on the door and we have spent time in utter confusion, it is time to take a pulse. This pulse will help us to put our feet on the ground to begin to heal what was broken and start over.

If we have an ending, why not start something there? It is about scratching the positive aspects that we have received through what can no longer continue. It is not a matter of starting your life from scratch, but a story with the maturity acquired from previous experience.

After a full stop, a capital letter

The ellipsis that camouflage endpoints are unhealthy for anyone, and no exceptions. If there is something that can no longer be or if the time has come to pick up the suitcases and leave, it is not beneficial to continue hurting ourselves by refusing it.

There are new stories to imagine and that are waiting for us. They are also stories that must begin with a large capital letter. There we will be able to see ourselves reflected in a mirror that reminds us that after we have lost a lot, we can find ourselves again.

Julio Cortázar used to say that nothing is lost if you have the courage to declare that everything is lost. So giving up may not be an option when we are about to take the most difficult step to close homes where we can no longer stay.

To miss is to begin to understand

It will be hard, it will be strange and you will need so much guts that it will be difficult to achieve it, but you are capable of doing it. It will be exactly the moment you begin to be aware and feel strange when the reflection of new opportunities opens up before you.

Little by little you will understand and, only when we have fully understood what has happened, will peace come. Finishing, accepting and going through a process of recovery from injuries gives us well-being and, at the same time, improves our relationship with others.

With this in mind, can we remember our endings? Yes, of course; but we can’t go on living in them. They are gone, they are memories and memories are filtered and saved. We are going to imagine other beginnings, we are going to find a way to be in “today” and enhance what it offers us.
