Sadness is an  emotion that we can feel at any moment. It is an intense sensation that can lead us to feel overwhelmed and in great discomfort. However, we can also use it as a tool to bring out the best in ourselves.

We have been taught that happiness is a permanent state that we can achieve. This makes us believe that feeling sad is bad, but it is not always the case. 1. Connect with you

2. Choose a place where you feel comfortable

It is easier to feel inspiration if we are in a place where we feel comfortable. Each person has their own little corner to find tranquility and harmony. As we are all different, the choice will depend on each one. There is no single one established.

Think, of all the places you know, which is the one where you are most comfortable. You can even choose one you’ve never been to, explore it, and decide if it’s a pleasant space for you. The important thing is that it is a space in which you feel comfortable and where you can express your creativity to the fullest.

Choosing the right place is as easy as thinking of a place that is cozy. Where do you feel magic and can you be free to express everything you have inside?

3. Select the material you like the most

Once you’ve found the place, start thinking about what type of art you are most comfortable with. For example, theater, dance, writing, painting, music… There are many options: what do you like the most? What do you feel comfortable with?

Keep in mind that you can use whatever you want, there are endless possibilities when selecting the material. Once you have chosen what type of art you want to explore, choose what elements you need. Here we provide you with some ideas so that you can move from sadness to creativity, but remember: you more than anyone will know what you most want to do!

  • A material you can paint on. Accompanied by colored pencils, paints, markers, charcoals, watercolors …
  • Comfortable clothes to dance or act connecting with the deepest part of you, accompanied by the music that you like the most. Even for arts that don’t require as much movement, feeling comfortable is just as important.

4. Begin to express what you feel to go from sadness to creativity

To transform pain into art, let everything within you flow, and begin to explore with the materials of your work. You can try with the first thing that comes to mind, since once you have started the process it will be easier to continue. It’s about testing until your creativity fully emerges and you can express everything you want and need.

Allow yourself to think about what torments you, dare to be you, and communicate everything you feel. Remodeling that which hurts you so much is possible. One of the best ways to do it is to think about what is weighing you down and give it a new meaning to learn from that experience or to let go of what hurts you so much.
